The current Parish Church of Marske-by-Sea is St Mark's, the original Parish Church being St. Germain which was built between A.D.1050 and 1055 and replaced as the parish church by St. Mark's in 1867. (extracted from the churche's booklet "The Parish Church (St. Mark)") The photo on the left shows the tower which along with the church foundations is all that is left of the original building.

	Click on the photo for a larger copy - use your browser back button to return.	Whilst wondering around the graveyard I noticed the monument on the left built in what appears to be cast steel. I could not read the inscription but it befits the steelmaking history of the area. Maybe a steel making Man is buried there.
