Providence Chapel,
Bacup

Location - correct grid ref is 103 SD 872231
Address - Tong Lane, Bacup, Lancashire
The Church has no graveyard
Providence Strict Baptist Church on Tong Lane was built in 1846, although a Sunday School known as Providence Particular Baptists had been established prior to this in 1836.
The Church was enlarged in 1851, and according to local directories of the time was referred to as 'Tongue Meadow'.
The premises were reconstructed in October 1911 as can be seen from the dated foundation stones around the building. The Church closed in January 1956.
Although currently in a derelict condition, the building has, in the intervening years, been used as a warehouse by local firms since it closed for worship.
